AC Milan back in Champions League after Eight Seasons

To wrap up the Italian Serie A this evening, AC Milan secure second spot in Serie A after beating Atalanta 2-0 at the Gewiss Stadium.

What this means is that, the Rossoneri are back to Champions League after 7 years of wait. The last Milan Champions League game was on 12 March 2014 at the Estadio Vicente Calderón in Madrid. 

Frank Kessie penalties earned a 2-0 victory over Atalanta, who also secured a top four finish.

Inter Milan are already League Champions with 91 points, Milan 79, Atalanta and Juventus 78, Napoli are out of race 4 - they’ll be in Europa League after tonight draw vs Verona.

Milan got their chance to go ahead just before half time when Theo Hernandez played a smart one-two before being brought down by Joakim Mæhle, allowing Kessie to confidently slot home the penalty. 

Kessie fired another penalty home in stoppage time to secure second place.
