Liverpool with Van Dijk is a different Liverpool without Van Dijk, says Tuchel

After a promising start to the season, Thomas Tuchel believes our trip to Anfield will provide the perfect opportunity for his players to show themselves, however he has warned that Liverpool will be a different proposition from the ones we thrashed on Merseyside in March.

According to Tuchel, the return of Van Dijk has altered Jurgen Klopp's defense and made them even tougher opponents than they were five months ago.

He stated, "That is the fact, and we should not hide from it." ‘With Van Dijk, Liverpool is a different Liverpool than it is without him.

‘It's not just his individual capability and level of performance; it's also the fact that he helps everyone around him feel more at ease and stronger.'

It's a significant improvement over last March, especially with Matip on board, and the crowd at Anfield might also play a role.

'Because you won't be able to hear yourself or communicate as easily as you would without onlookers, it will be more difficult to escape pressure in tense situations.'

Romelu Lukaku's second term with Chelsea got off to a flying start last weekend at the Emirates, where he scored a goal, smashed a header against the crossbar, and generally bullied Arsenal's frantic defense.

Tuchel wants the former Everton man to rise to the occasion when he returns to Merseyside, but he acknowledges that a major assignment awaits him so early in his Chelsea comeback.

'I'm looking forward to it, and I believe many football fans are looking forward to it,' he continued.

‘It won't just be Van Dijk against. Lukaku; it'll be Liverpool vs. Chelsea, but it'll be a difficult challenge for Romelu.

‘He's now played one match with us, which was quite amazing and a fantastic start, so we'll be focusing on the nuances, adapting, and connecting more and better from here on.'

The stress test is tomorrow at Anfield, and we'll see what happens, but we knew when we recruited him that he was a very experienced player in big games.

‘He enjoys these types of games, which is why I expect the best from him right now.'

I'm not sure if he's already at top level, perhaps since he's only played one game, but I'm confident he'll have a solid match tomorrow because he's a tough competitor who enjoys playing in these kind of matchups against strong opponents.'
