Police arrest ASEPA Official for allegedly killing teenager over waste disposal

Police have arrested an official from Abia State Waste Management for allegedly killing a teenager over waste disposal.

Following the death of a 17-year-old boy, a waste management official working for the Abia State Environmental Protection Agency, ASEPA, has been arrested. 

Mr Okeugo Ugonna is accused of murdering Daniel Ogbonna near a waste receptacle on Asa road in Aba, Abia State, read here.

Ogbonna, who lived at No. 36 St. Michael's Road, allegedly went to the receptacle at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 12, to dispose of his waste, but it was full.

Observing that those who came before him disposed of their trash behind the receptacle, he followed suit and left. 

However, another employee identified as Biggy was accused of requesting that Ugoing to arrest the victim for disposing of his waste outside the receptacle. 

Ugonna to allegedly pursued the boy, dragged him back, and delivered a blow that knocked Ogbonna to the road's tarred surface, where he died instantly.

When Biggy and the other staff realized the boy had died, they attempted to flee the scene. 

Biggy managed to flee, but Ugoing to was apprehended by locals, who later turned him over to the police. Ugonna to has been apprehended, but the search for Biggy continues.
