Dada Gbenga Ayomilekan, posing as a member of the National Youth Service Corps, was arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command (NYSC).
The suspect was found with a forged HND certificate and a fake identification card, among other documents.
The suspect was apprehended by operatives attached to the State Intelligence Bureau while on an intensive surveillance patrol to ensure safety and security in the NYSC Orientation Camp in Girei Local Government Area, according to DSP Suleiman Nguroje, the command's spokesperson.
"The suspect, a resident of Hokolul street, Oyun tipper garage, Ilorin, Kwara state, claimed to have graduated with a lower credit grade from Plateau State Polytechnic and was sent to NYSC orientation camp and arrested on the 6th September, 2021," according to the statement.
Aliyu Adamu Alhaji, the State Commissioner of Police, who was tough on impersonators, directed the State Intelligence Bureau (SIB), the CP's Monitoring unit, and the Public Complaint Bureau (PCB) to go after people of such dubious character and put a stop to criminal activities in the camp.
Similarly, the police chief ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police (CID) to prosecute the suspect and anyone else found guilty of a similar crime right away.
