Terrorists attack Abuja-Kaduna train, bomb track

Suspected terrorists, also known as bandits, attacked the Abuja-Kaduna train, forcing it to stop in the middle of its journey

The bandits first attacked the train on Wednesday night, and it was successfully immobilized after struggling to move for 7 kilometers after the attack, according to Daily Nigeria.

The bandits returned on Thursday morning, according to sources, and planted explosive devices on the rail track.

Shehu Sani, a Senator who represented Kaduna Central in the 8th National Assembly, confirmed the incident on his Facebook page as a passenger on the early morning train.

"Yesterday, bandits attacked the Kaduna-Abuja train," the Senator wrote. They detonated an explosive that shattered the train engine's windshield and damaged the rail track. They opened fire as well, aiming for the driver and the tank.

"It happened between the stations of Dutse and Rijana. The driver struggled to get to the Rigasa station in Kaduna.

"I was on board this morning when our train ran over another set of explosive-damaged railings. We miraculously escaped after the train nearly skidded off the track.

"Until this issue is resolved, all Kaduna Abuja train operations must be suspended for today."
