JAMB remits N3.51 billion as surplus generated in 2021 exams

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, remitted N3.51 billion to the Federal Government on Wednesday as part of excess money in 2021 exams.

According to a board statement, the remittance for 2021 is in line with the Registrar's stated commitment to prudent public resource management.

"This commitment to probity coupled with the adoption of international best practices make for cost-effective operational processes and attendant savings to yield those humongous remittances to government coffers," the statement signed by the JAMB’s spokesman Dr Fabian Benjamin said.

According to the statement, one of the direct benefits of the Oloyede-led management's consistent remittances was President Muhammadu Buhari's reduction of the cost of application documents for candidates from N5000 to N3500 in 2018.

"This singular act has ensured the annual transfer of over N3 billion to the pockets of parents and guardians of candidates as a consequence of the slash in the price of UTME forms," the statement read.
