Nnamdi Kanu starving in DSS custody - Lawyer

Nnamdi Kanu's Lead Counsel, Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, stated the arrested leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) is hungry in the Department of State Services' custody (DSS).

After a regular visit to Nnamdi Kanu on Monday, Ejiofor said this on Tuesday morning. Despite an order from Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja on December 2 allowing him to enjoy comfort in jail, the DSS neglected to supply meals for Nnamdi Kanu, according to the lawyer.

Kanu, according to Ejiofor, is being punished for complaining to the court about the severe conditions in which he is being imprisoned.

According to him, "We were dismayed and concerned to learn that, despite the Court's broad directions issued on December 2, 2021, the detaining authority, the DSS, had flouted and/or disobeyed the court orders.

"They have continued to treat the Court's Orders with the utmost contempt. After drawing his blood more than 21 times, the IPOB leader's brother claims that the secret police had denied him his medical report."

On the judgment of Justice Binta Murtala Nyako-led Federal High Court, Kanu is now held at a DSS facility.
