Nnamdi Kanu, the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has denied being a member of the organisation, according to Shuaibu Labaran, Counsel to the Federal Government.

After the court hearing, Labaran told journalists that Kanu denied being a part of IPOB.

"One of the allegations is that the defendant, Nnamdi Kanu, is a member of IPOB, which he categorically denies.

"That is extremely fascinating," Labaran added, "and we urge Nigerians to watch how we are going to prove all of those charges against the defendant in no time."

However, Justice Binta Nyako postponed the case's hearing till February 16 to hear the defendant's plea challenging the fairness of his trial and the allegations brought against him by the Federal Government.

Meanwhile, the Federal Government has been ordered to pay N1 billion to Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), by a High Court in Umuahia, Abia State, for violating his fundamental human rights.

The court also ordered the FG to apologize to the IPOB leader publicly in three national newspapers.
