After winning the Adelaide International, the world No. 1 improved to 7-0 on the season and has yet to drop a set, defeating the Italian 30th seed 6-2, 6-3 on Rod Laver Arena.
In a thrilling fourth-round match, she will face either defending champion Naomi Osaka or young American Amanda Anisimova.
"It was a fairly decent performance," remarked Barty, 25, who described it as "clean."
"It was my responsibility to get her off the baseline because of the way she smacks the ball and covers the court... I'm able to make good use of my slice."
