Bandits killed 11 security personnel and numerous civilians in separate attacks in the state's Shiroro and Paikoro local government areas between Friday and Saturday, according to the Niger State Government.
On Tuesday, Governor Abubakar Bello issued a statement in response to the attacks, which was made by his media aide, Mary Noel-Berje.
Mr Bello claimed that the attacks on Galadiman Kogo and other villages in the Shiroro council area could have been avoided if residents had contacted security forces in a timely manner.
Residents stated the attacks happened on Saturday and Monday, with 20 people confirmed dead in Shiroro and one person proven dead in Paikoro, that at least 32 people were murdered in all.
Mr Kokki attributed the attacks to the departure of security officers from their Galadima Kogo base in Shiroro.
Residents reported the gunmen also attacked Paikoro, a nearby council district, on Monday afternoon, killing one person.
Salisu Sabo, a local, informed this publication that the gunmen were moving from one hamlet to the next on Monday morning, stealing stores, shooting people, and kidnapping them.
He stated "They have so far infiltrated the communities of Ammale, Dakalo, kuchiri, kurmin Giwa, Goto Reshidat, Yanki, and Goto Sarki.
One person was murdered, and the injured were taken to Kafin Koro General Hospital for treatment."
It seemed possible that the attack could have been avoided."
Governor Bello claimed in an official statement that the attack on Galadiman Kogo would have been foiled if people from Galape and Kudodo in Allawa had warned security agents when they observed terrorists approaching the town."
The governor asked residents in Galadiman Kogo and Kuchi in the Shiroro and Munya local government districts to remain calm and wait for a prompt and immediate reaction from the Joint Security Taskforce, emphasizing that their earlier withdrawal was tactical in order to re-strategize.
"We have reached the end of our patience with the terrorists, and we will use all available methods to put an end to the endless bloodshed against innocent people."
We'll do everything we can to put an end to the deaths and restore normalcy to the affected areas.
