FIFA to pay Super Eagles N5.6bn for World Cup qualification

The Super Eagles, Nigeria's national football team, will get €12.2 million (N5.6 billion) from FIFA if they qualify for the Qatar 2022 World Cup later this year.

The competition will take place from November 21 to December 18 and will feature teams from 32 countries.

This will be the Super Eagles' eighth World Cup appearance if they defeat Ghana's Black Stars.

The first game will take place at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday, March 25 (today), with the second leg taking place in Abuja on Tuesday, March 29.

FIFA has upped the qualifying incentive from €10 million to €12.2 million in order to assist teams in properly preparing for the tournament.

FIFA awarded the Nigerian squad €10 million when they qualified for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
