JUST IN: Austin Eguavoen Resigns As Super Eagles head Coach


Following Nigeria's inability to qualify for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, interim coach Austin Eguavoen has reportedly resigned from his role.

According to reports, the strategist has sent his official resignation letter to the football federation, although the NFF has yet to issue an official statement.

Remember that two days before the first leg of the World Cup play-off against Ghana in Kumasi, the NFF granted Eguavoen a two-year deal.

Updated: Super Eagles Technical Crew Fired

Austin Eguaveon, the Technical Adviser of Nigeria's national team, the Super Eagles, has resigned, according to the Nigerian Football Federation.

The NFF also terminated the appointments of the whole technical team and revoked the coaches' contracts, according to a statement posted on its website.

The statement read, "Following the failure of the Super Eagles of Nigeria to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the erstwhile Technical Adviser, Augustine Eguavoen has stepped down from that position with immediate effect.

"The NFF has in the meantime withdrawn the two-and-half years contract offered the coaches and terminated the appointment of the entire technical crew of the team with immediate effect. 

"A new crew will be announced after a proper review to lead the new charge of reinvigorating the Super Eagles to face future challenges."
