The General Manager of Traffic and Indiscipline Management Agency, Abia State (TIMAAS), Commander Bright Chinedu Ikeokwu, has distanced itself from claims by Vanguard Newspaper earlier today saying that the ruling party, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Abia State may collapse if Governor Okezie Ikpeazu goes ahead with his plan to pick a candidate from Ngwa as his successor in the 2023 election.
Quoting Vanguard Newspaper, Ikeokwu said this on Saturday, where he said in the spirit of fair play, power should be allowed to rotate back to Abia north after the 8 years tenure of Governor Ikpeazu.
He noted that since 1999 when democracy was restored in the country, the governorship of Abia State, like other states, has moved from Abia North under Orji Uzor Kalu to Abia central under T. A. Orji and currently to Abia south under the present Gov Ikpeazu, read full post here.
But in a statement this evening Ikeokwu distanced itself from such comment. The statement with title "Re: PDP ‘ll collapse if Gov Ikpeazu picks Ngwa candidate - TIMASS Boss, Ikeokwu", reads "My attention has been drawn to a report on Vanguard newspaper where I was falsely quoted to have said that "PDP ‘ll collapse if Gov Ikpeazu picks Ngwa candidate."

"This Press release is to clarify that at no point did I, Chinedu Bright Ikeokwu, grant an interview with any journalist. It is not in my place to determine who succeeds my boss in 2023.
"It is quite disappointing that a newspaper of repute such as Vanguard would descend so low as to publish an unverified story.
"Governor Okezie Ikpeazu is my leader and boss. His directive is naturally binding on me. He leads and I follow. I am 100% loyal to his leadership and will continue to give my unalloyed support.
"The general public is advised to disregard the report and treat as fake news wherever seen.
"I have consulted with my lawyers and will explore every legal measures to address this propaganda against my person and office.
