
Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, inaugurated 20 commissioners approved by the state House of Assembly on Saturday.
Air-Vice Marshal Ben Chiobi (retd.) was also named as a Special Adviser on Security Matters by the governor.

The commissioners are; Ifeatu Chinedu (Finance), Prof. Ofonze Amucheazi (Lands), Ifeanyi Okoma (Works and Infrastructure), Chiamaka Nnake (Budget and Economy Planning), Dr Afam Obidike (Health), Patrick Agha-mba (Youth Development), Ifeyinwa Obinabo (Women/Children Affairs), Dr Obinna Ugonnadi (Commerce and Industry), Julius Chukwuemeka (Power and Water Resources), and Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh (Education).
Others are Paul Nwosu (Information), Dr Foster Ihejiofor (Agriculture), Patricia Igwebuike (Transport), Felix Odimegwu (Environment), Chikodi Anara (Home Land Affairs), Prof. Chika Ifemeje (Attorney General/Commissioner for Justice), Collins Nwabunwanne (Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs), Donatus Onyeji (Culture/Entertainment), Anthony Ifeanya (Petroleum), and Paulinus Onyeaka (Housing).
The governor advised the appointees to uphold their oaths of office and carry out their tasks as assigned.
Mr Soludo said after the inauguration that assigning tasks to each of the new commissioners before the swearing-in was a clear break from convention. He explained that the commissioners were chosen based on their areas of expertise.
"More than 22, 000 persons applied to serve, out of which more than 1, 000 indicated interest to serve as commissioners.
"It is from this list that we picked the 20 commissioners and another commissioner nominee yet to be cleared by the lawmakers because I submitted his name after the initial list was sent," Mr Soludo said.
