"I am innocent" -- Osinachi’s husband, Peter Nwachukwu, denies allegation

Mr Peter Nwachukwu, who has been in the news for days after reportedly beating his wife, popular gospel singer Osinachi Nwachukwu, to death, has refuted the claims of wife battering and assault.

Peter Nwachukwu, speaking from police detention, said his late wife had been ill since November of last year.

He claimed he took her to Federal Medical Center (FMC), Gwagwalada General Hospital, and ultimately National Hospital, where she died. He did not, however, reveal the nature of her sickness.

At around 11 a.m. on Monday, April 11, 2021, Mr Nwachukwu was handcuffed and escorted into a police van stationed in front of the Lugbe police station in Abuja.

The cops stated they were driving him to their residence so he could show them proof of the hospitals he claimed he took his deceased wife to for treatment.

Meanwhile, an autopsy has been performed on the body of Osinachi Nwachukwu, a well-known Nigerian gospel singer, to determine the true reason of her death.

After the late singer's spouse, who is accused of being responsible for her murder, denied any wrongdoing, an autopsy became absolutely required.

Mr Nwachukwu has been taken to the force headquarters in Abuja for further interrogation while the autopsy test results are awaited.
