
Nse Ekpenyong, a member of the House of Representatives who represented the Oron Federal Constituency, has died.
Mr. Ekpenyong died on Saturday, April 23, according to Premium Times. The reason for his death has been disclosed.
Asuqwo Eyo, the chairman of Mbo Local Government Area, confirmed the death to the media. He further stated that the member of Congress was not ill.
Mr. Ekpenyong was a member of the Oron Federal Constituency in Akwa Ibom State, and his second term would have ended in May 2023.
He was a former deputy chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State and a former member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly.
He was the Managing Director of Based/Investment Trust Co Nigeria Ltd and afterwards the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Brule Integrated Nigeria Ltd before entering politics.
Following his death, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, is anticipated to declare his seat empty, with INEC conducting a new election to fill it.
