Nigerian Soldiers Neutralise Suspected IPOB Members In Imo, Recover Weapons

The 34 Artillery Brigade of the Nigerian Army has neutralized gunmen and arrested suspected members of the outlawed Indigenous Peoples of Biafra and the Eastern Security Network in Imo State, according to the Nigerian Army.

The Army announced the achievement on its Twitter account following an intense gun fight on Monday along the Orlu-Orsu road.

While on normal patrol, the forces came into touch with members of the IPOB/ESN in the vicinity of the Aluminium Company and All Saints Church.

When the criminal elements saw the patrol team, they opened fire and launched a grenade attack on the troops.

Two of the criminal members were neutralized by the vigilant forces' superior weaponry, forcing the remainder to leave in chaos.

Troops apprehended four of the fleeing gunmen and recovered one AK 47 rifle, two magazines, one Police grenade launcher, two Baofeng communication radios, five mobile phones, one IPOB Beret, two motorcycles, four SIM cards, five wallets containing various ID cards, afrodisiac, charms, and the sum of Sixteen Thousand, Four Hundred and Sixty Naira only during a hot pursuit that followed the encounter.

Preliminary investigation on the suspects’ mobile phones reveals gory pictures and videos depicting scenes of cold blooded murders, corpses displayed in shrines and other heinous atrocities committed by the criminals.
