Queen Elizabeth Gets Own Barbie Doll To Mark 70-year Reign

Queen Elizabeth

For her Platinum Jubilee, toymaker Mattel has turned Queen Elizabeth into a Barbie doll.

On the real-life monarch's 96th birthday, the doll, which is supposed to look like her, will be introduced.

The figure is dressed in an ivory gown with a blue belt embellished with little medallions and ribbons, as well as a tiara modeled by Elizabeth's wedding tiara.

On the death of her father, King George VI, on Feb. 6, 1952, Elizabeth, who celebrates 96 on Thursday, gained the throne. She is the British monarch with the longest reign.

Harrods, Selfridges, and Hamleys in London will sell the doll ahead of the formal Platinum Jubilee celebrations in early June.

To commemorate Queen Elizabeth II's 96th birthday, gun salutes will be fired on Thursday.
