As a result of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the United Nations General Assembly voted on Thursday to expel Russia from the UN Human Rights Council.
93 members of the 193-member assembly voted in favor of the suspension, while 24 voted against it and 58 abstained, implying a deterioration in international unity against Russia.
It was only the second time a country has been suspended from the council. In 2011, Libya was the first to do so.
