Welfare Of Pensioners Priority Of Government -- Abia Govt

The government of Abia has stated that the wellbeing of the state's retirees will remain a top focus.

The Governor, Dr Okezie Victor Ikpeazu, stated this when he received the executive members of the Blind Senior Citizens Association of Nigeria, Abia State Chapter, in his office. 

He described the visit as a step in the right direction and advised them not to let their difficulties deter them from achieving their life and destiny goals.

The Governor, who was represented by the Secretary of State, Barr. Chris Ezem, stated that the government is ready to meet the needs of its citizens.

He stated that the government has approved the payment of gratuity to state pensioners, beginning with members of the blind senior citizens association who have received a portion of their gratuity, and that adequate steps will be taken to ensure that the remaining portion of the gratuity is paid as soon as possible.

The second phase will focus on individuals who have yet to receive theirs.

He urged people to follow the law at all times and to continue to support the current administration.

The team's leader, Chief Ifegwu Joseph, who addressed through Mr Amadi Jonathan, said the visit was to thank and praise Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for paying a portion of their gratuity, describing it as a sign of his compassion, devotion, and love for Abians' wellbeing.

He pledged their continuous support and commitment to the administration of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.
