Only a female governor will deliver Abia from bad governance -- Oluchi Ogwo

Chief Oluchi Ogwo, the first female governorship candidate from the Youth Party in Abia, has emerged with the firm belief that only a female governor can save the state from bad governance.

"The battle has started as I am the first woman to become a party candidate in Abia," Ogwo said after being formally handed over her nomination and expression of interest forms at the party's state headquarters in Umuahia on Wednesday.

"By this time next year, a woman will be governor of Abia State," she promised, "but the state is still as it was since no woman has ruled it."

She pointed out that men had done a poor job in the state and that now was the time for a woman to prove herself.

"I'll go, I'll do it," she added. It is past time for men to respect a woman like me and join me in moving the state forward."

"Abia is fed up with guys. A woman must be given a chance to lead Abia State. There is a lot I can do for the state, and there will be no change in Abia unless a woman is in charge," she added, urging those who couldn't make there to rally up their friends and help the state.
