BREAKING: Atiku makes u-turn picks Okowa as running mate

Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta State, has been named as the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar's running mate.

Atiku revealed and verified Mr. Okowa's nomination at an unveiling event for his running mate in Abuja on Thursday.

While speaking about his decision, Atiku stated that his Vice President must possess the traits of a president and be able to work well with him as a President.

He went on to say that he should represent the quality of a Nigerian who is not afraid to speak up and offer recommendations on the country's government.

He also stated that his running partner must comprehend the depth of the rots in the Nigerian system, as well as the crucial needs for economic progress.

Debo Ologunagba, the PDP's National Publicity Secretary, dismissed allegations in the media that the party had chosen Wike, stating the National Working Committee was looking into the topic and conferring to determine the best vice presidential candidate for the party in the 2023 elections.

The PDP's National Working Committee (NWC) met in Abuja on Wednesday at 11 a.m. as part of efforts to speed up its process. The advisory board resumed intensive deliberations.

However, the party refuted allegations yesterday (Wednesday) that the Rivers State governor had been chosen as the party's vice-presidential candidate by its Selection Committee.
