Court Denies Nnamdi Kanu Bail Again

Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the illegal Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), had his bail plea dismissed by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja once more.

According to information obtained by Strenuousblog, Justice Nyako stated in her ruling on the bail plea that for four years, no paperwork had been filed in her court addressing the reason Kanu departed Nigeria.

She did, however, declare that she would be willing to take into account a fresh bail application and she agreed to halt the criminal investigation.

Justice Nyako also suggested that Kanu's legal counsel contact the Court of Appeal over the matter of bail.

Kanu is being held in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) since his arrest in June 2021.

She added that Kanu breached his former bail conditions, and until that is heard, his present bail application is immature.

She said at the time that the issue of Kanu's absence in the past, since 2017, should be determined, before his bail application, will be entertained.
