In the Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State, a man named Mr. Omotayo Oni has been detained on suspicion of stealing wires from the Deeper Life Bible Church Headquarters.
Oni was detained on Wednesday morning around 5:30 am by Ogun So-Safe Corps members from the Lotto division who were conducting a routine sweep of the axis.
Oni tried to flee when the security guards asked him where he acquired the wires in his hands, according to the So-Safe Corps spokesperson, Moruf Yusuf.
The alleged thief "admitted to having taken the cables near the site he was captured," according to Yusuf, who claimed the interrogation took place without the use of torture.
He claimed that "the team took hours to get to the actual location where the cables were stolen as he took them to so many wrong locations before he opened up and mentioned that the crime was committed in Deeper Life Church, State Headquarters."
Yusuf revealed that the Corps Commander, Soji Ganzallo, had given the squad the order to go to the mentioned church as part of efforts to verify where the cables were stolen from.
The Chief Security Officer and others at the church were shocked and reportedly enquired as to how he managed to avoid being apprehended despite the church's powerful security network.
The suspect and the evidence had been given to the police at the Redeemed divisional headquarters in the interim for additional investigation and maybe legal action.
