Gov Wike gives Rivers United Players $20,000 each, 2 weeks training tour to Real Madrid for winning NPFL 2022/2023 season

Rivers State Gov. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike awards each Rivers United player $20,000 (over N12) and a two-week training tour to Real Madrid in exchange for winning the NPFL 2022/2023 season.

In a statement on Thursday, Wike congratulated them for showing such energy in the Nigeria Professional Football League season 2022/2023.
 This is the club's first victory in its history came after a season in which they dominated the standings for the majority of the time and finished with 77 points, ten more than second-placed Plateau United.

The celebration was held in the Rivers State Government House in Port Harcourt, and the governor was present personally, taking pictures with the team. Wike additionally presented the Governors Medal Service Award to each team member (GMSA).

Wike said, "Today, our own Rivers United F. C. winners of Npflofficial 2022/2023 season were at the Government House to formally present their trophy.

"We are elated at their victory and the record margin they used to win the league.

"To encourage them, the players will get $20,000 each and be sponsored to Real Madrid on a 2-week training tour.

"We are also fully committed to supporting the team to ensure they excel in their continental competition."
