Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal Shed Tears During Tennis Great's Final Pro Match


in the Laver Cup in London on Friday, playing in a doubles match for Team Europe with Rafael Nadal at the age of 41. 

According to ESPN, when competing against Team World's Frances Tiafoe and Jack Sock at the O2, Nadal and the recent retiree lost 4-6, 7-6 (2), 11-9. But what made the night special was the show of support for Federer.

Federer said in his farewell speech, "It was never supposed to be that way. I was genuinely just pleased to play tennis and hang out with my buddies. I eventually found myself here. It has been the ideal journey."

Tennis legend Roger Federer concluded. "I would repeat the process. It was wonderful. It's been very enjoyable. It's been incredible. I want to thank everyone. The support I've received from so many people, especially you guys here today, is incredible.

Nadal, Federer's fiercest adversary, wept alongside him as they said their final goodbyes, taking in the mood of the occasion before Ellie Goulding's performance. On Friday night, a number of videos showing their touching embrace went viral on Twitter.

According to CNN, Nadal stated, "When Roger departs the tour, certainly, a major part of my life is departing too. All the moments he has been next to me or in front of me at critical periods of my life. "Therefore, it has been difficult to see the family and other people. Yes, it's challenging to describe. But it was a great moment."
