The VIO officers were driving on "One Way" while pursuing a vehicle at the Lugbe Bridge along Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Road in Abuja, which is where the accident happened at around 3:10 p.m. on Monday, September 19.
According to information obtained, the officers were traveling against the flow of traffic on the bridge in an effort to stop a driver whose vehicle documents were allegedly expired, but in the course of their efforts, they collided head-on with an approaching Toyota Corolla with the license plate ABJ 717 CE.
The hospital was rushed to treat the hurt VIO officers. The two involved vehicles were irreparably damaged.
The incident, which drew a sizable number of onlookers and sympathizers, blamed the officers for the mishap.
When recounting his experience, the car's driver (Abraham), who narrowly avoided death, stated he was ascending the bridge when he unexpectedly noticed the VIO vehicle traveling quickly in the opposite direction.
He claimed that despite the severity of the incident, God had preserved him alive.
