JUST IN: Nnamdi Kanu Defeats FG Again as Umuahia Court Orders His Immediate Release, Return to Kenya Plus N500m Damages

A federal high court in Umuahia, Abia state, has ordered the federal government to return Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to Kenya.

Kanu was extradited from the East African country to Nigeria in June 2021.

The court also ordered the government to pay Kanu N500 million as damages for his illegal abduction and violation of his fundamental human rights.

"Nnamdi Kanu should be returned to where he was before he was extradited to Nigeria.

"The issue isn’t whether Nnamdi Kanu was to be arrested or not, the issue is how he was arrested and tortured …

"Nnamdi Kanu is hereby awarded 500 million naira for damages," Judge said.
