Ifeanyi Adeleke, the son of Davido and his fiancée, Chioma Rowland, died from drowning, according to an autopsy, the Lagos State Police Command reported on Saturday.
In a brief with PUNCH, the state police public relations officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, verified the development.
"The autopsy is finished," remarked Hundeyin. It is conclusive evidence that Ifeanyi drowned.
It is standard procedure for the police to perform an autopsy in such a case, according to a reliable source who confirmed the development.
The source added that the police would abstain from the action if the deceased family members objected, though.
Although the family members have not spoken up yet because they are still in shock, the source stated that until someone tells them to stop, an autopsy will be performed as is customary practice in every death case.
The cook and nanny, whose job it was to look after the wellbeing of the three-year-old boy, had been detained for reasons including failing to uphold the duty of care of the minor, the source further explained.
