A foremost Nationalist, one of the frontline fighters for Nigeria's independence, and the country's first Minister of Aviation, Chief Mbazulike Amechi (Dara Akunwafor) is dead.

According to the statement released by the elderstatesman's son, Ezeana Tagbo Amechi, the nonagenarian passed on peacefully in the early hours of Tuesday, November 01, 2022.

Chief Amechi's last public appearance was in November 2021, when he led some prominent Igbo leaders to Aso Rock Villa, to push for the release of Nnamdi Kanu; a plea that was never granted to him and his team by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Chief Amechi, popularly known as 'The Boy Is Good' was a prominent member of the Zikist Movement, the youth arm of the independence struggle in the 1950s, and was at some point jailed alongside other Zikists by the Colonial rulers.

He hailed from Ukpor, Nnewi South LGA of Anambra State.

May his soul rest in peace 🙏.
