Pele's funeral to be held at Santos stadium on January 2nd and 3rd

Pele's funeral will take place inside the Santos stadium next week January 2 and January 3. 

His body will go straight from the Albert Einstein Hospital to Estádio Urbano Caldeira in Vila Belmiro. 

The coffin will be placed in the centre of the pitch and the public wake is expected to begin at 10am. 

The ceremony will continue until 10am on January 3, 2023, when the parade through the streets of Santos. 

After a protracted battle with cancer, the Brazilian icon, whose full name was Edson Arantes do Nascimento, passed away on Thursday at the age of 82. Kely Nascimento, his daughter, posted on social media to confirm his passing. 

With 77 goals in his career, Pele continues to rank among the team's all-time leading scorers. He guided Brazil to World Cup victories in 1958, 1962, and 1970.

In 1,366 games, he scored 1,282 goals, including 77 in 92 times for his nation.
