Abia INEC Returning Officer, Nnenna Oti Receives Heroic Welcome in FUTO (Video)

Professor Nnenna Oti has received a hero’s welcome from staff and students of the Federal University of Technology, FUTO, Owerri, on Tuesday.

Oti, the current Vice-chancellor of FUTO, was the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Returning Officer in the just concluded Abia State governorship election.

In a video circulating online, people (presumably students) were seen dancing and chanting songs with a banner with the inscription "Welcome back Nnenna Oti, Heroine of Nigerian Democracy."

Mrs. Oti played a very key role in announcing the results of the governor's election in the state. She stood her ground, insisting that the people’s votes would count.

"I will stand squarely and unapologetically on these principles." The people’s votes and mandate shall stand.

"The pastor and the mother in me will not permit me to do anything that will adversely affect the future of our children," she said.

Alex Otti of the Labour Party (LP) later won by 175, 467 votes over Enyinnaya Nwafor of the Young People's Party (YPP) and Okey Ahiwe of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Her integrity attracted so many accolades across the country with Abia Businessman Steven Ukpabi gifts her a new Prado Jeep for her integrity and refusal to compromise the Abia governorship election, etc.
