Bayern fires Nagelsmann, appoints Tuchel as head coach

Bayern Munich sacked coach Julian Nagelsmann and appointed Thomas Tuchel, the former Chelsea boss, as head coach. A decision made will have an immediate effect.

Nagelsmann, 35, had only been with Bayern Munich since 2021 after signing a pre-contract agreement with the club from RB Leipzig, but a loss to Bayer Leverkusen before the international break was the final straw.

Bayern is now one point behind rivals Borussia Dortmund, and Tuchel's first match will be against the same Dortmund team that he used to manage.

Contract until June 2025, details now agreed — as mentioned Tuchel was the leading candidate for the job.
