The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Peter Mbah, has been proclaimed the winner of the March 18 governorship election in Enugu State by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
According to the results announced by the Returning Officer, Prof Maduebibisi Ofo-Iwe, who is the Vice Chancellor of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, Mbah polled 160,895 votes to defeat his closest rival, Chijioke Edeoga of the Labour Party (LP) who scored 157,552 while Uche Nnaji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) secured 14,575 votes.
As of yet, the outcomes of 26 of the 28 governorship elections have been declared. The APC won 15 states, the PDP nine, the LP one, and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) Kano. Kebbi and Adamawa elections were deemed inconclusive.
