Alex Otti calls for calm over Kano court orders
Dr. Alex Otti, the governor-elect of Abia State, has asked residents to remain calm following his reported dismissal by a Federal High Court sitting in Kano State.

Strenuousblog previously stated that Otti's candidacy, as well as those of other Labour Party members in Abia and Kano states, had been declared null and void by a judge due to noncompliance with the rules of the 2022 election legislation.

The failure of the party to submit its membership record to the INEC within 30 days of their primaries rendered the process null and unlawful, according to the judge.

Otti responded to the ruling by saying that preparations for his inauguration on May 29 are proceeding as planned.

He mentioned that the actions of those opposed to democracy would not prevent the people of Abia from having their way.

The governor-elect who spoke through his media aide, Ferdinand Ekeoma, with Vanguard was quoted as saying that the Kano court’s judgment holds no water and stands on nothing.

“Even the one they filed in Kano, they intentionally did not want to join us. The judge knows that, and did not pass any verdict on us because Otti was not joined.”

Otti further explained that similar cases had already been filed against two Labour Party House of Representatives candidates in Abia but were all dismissed even by the Supreme Court.

"The court had ruled on a similar suit before the election and dismissed it.
