Court sentences Ramon Adedoyin to death by hanging over murder

The Osun State High Court has declared Ramon Adedoyin, the founder of Oduduwa University, guilty of Timothy Adegoke's murder.

On Tuesday, the court, presided over by Judge Adepele Ojo, condemned Adedoyin, who is also the owner of the Hilton hotel, to death by hanging.

Adegoke, a postgraduate student at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), was murdered between November 5 and 7, 2021, at the Hilton Honors Hotel in Ile-Ife.

In her decision on the case, Judge Adepele Ojo stated that the circumstantial evidence available to the court led to Adegoke's murder when he was a guest at Adedoyin's hotel.

Justice Ojo further ruled that Adedoyin's unwillingness to testify meant he accepted to the prosecution's murder accusation, ignoring his counsel's alibi, which stated that the hotel owner was in Abuja for many days around the time of the late Adegoke's death.
