Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, a Nigerian cook, has surpassed the current Guinness World Record holder Lata Tondon.
She is on track to break the Guinness World Record for the "longest cooking marathon by an individual" after clocking 87 hours and 50 minutes.
The restaurateur began the battle on Thursday at 4 p.m. by turning on her cooker, and she overtook the current world record holder on Monday morning.
If confirmed by Guinness World Records, she will be ousting the current world record holder, Lata Tondon, an Indian chef who achieved the feat in 2019 with 87 hours 45 minutes of record continuous cooking.
Baci's culinary marathon is now taking place at Amore Gardens in Lekki, Lagos State.
Baci passed the four-day milestone on Monday morning. In 2021, the chef won the first edition of the Jollof Face-off Competition, taking home a top prize of $5000.
Nigerians, including several celebrities, braved the downpour to cheer up the clearly fatigued cook in her continued record-breaking attempt.
