Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti has made a promising commitment to bring about a significant transformation for civil servants in Abia State.

By the end of June, he has pledged to initiate the payment of salary arrears owed to workers by the previous administration led by Okezie Ikpeazu.

During a thanksgiving reception in Umuahia, the capital of Abia State, Governor Otti made a significant announcement. The event was held to honor Hon. Obi Aguocha, the newly inaugurated National Assembly member representing Ikwuano-Umuahia Federal Constituency.

The Governor highlighted that the previous administration had left behind a substantial debt, amounting to over N200 billion, as per the latest assessment. Governor Otti emphasized the state's responsibility to address this debt and ensure its resolution.

According to a statement released on Sunday by Kazie Uko, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, the previous government had accumulated a staggering 30-month salary backlog for civil servants in the state. This announcement signifies a positive change on the horizon for the hardworking individuals serving the public in Abia State.

Governor Otti assured that confirmed salary arrears would be addressed by the end of the month, while acknowledging the challenge of unverifiable figures. A thorough verification process and forensic audit have been initiated to ensure accurate payments. Hon. Aguocha expressed gratitude to Governor Otti for his support during the election.
