A tragic multiple vehicular accident in Lagos, specifically at Alaka in Surulere, has resulted in two fatalities and injuries to seven individuals. The incident involved two trucks and six cars and occurred near the Stadium area.
According to Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), the accident unfolded as a blue flatbed Mack truck, whose registration number remains unknown, lost control of its brakes while descending a bridge. This truck collided with several vehicles ahead of it, leading to a devastating chain reaction.
Tragically, two lives were lost in the accident, an adult female and an adult male. Additionally, seven people suffered various degrees of injuries. Among the injured are three adult males and two adult females who have been promptly transported to the FMC, Yaba for medical treatment. Fortunately, three females managed to escape the accident without harm.
The vehicles involved in the collision included the aforementioned flatbed truck, a blue Toyota Corolla with the registration number LND-217GX, a grey Toyota Rav 4 with the registration number LSD-406AU, a blue Toyota Camry with the registration number AKD-606HH, an Isuzu commercial minibus (korope) with an unknown registration number, and a white truck.
The incident prompted a swift response from various emergency and traffic management agencies, including LASEMA Response Team, LASEMA Paramedics, FRSC, LASTMA, LASAMBUS, LASG FIRE, and the Nigeria Police. The collaborative efforts of these responders demonstrate the dedication to handling such unfortunate events and ensuring the safety and well-being of those affected.
