Chicago State University Confirms President Bola Tinubu's Graduation in 1979

Chicago State University (CSU) has officially confirmed that President Bola Tinubu attended the university and successfully graduated in 1979 with a bachelor's degree. The institution provided this information in response to a request made to the U.S. federal court for educational records related to Tinubu.

However, CSU stated that the United States federal law, specifically the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), prohibits them from disclosing any further information about Tinubu's records without his consent or unless authorized by a court order.

CSU expressed confidence in the accuracy and integrity of their records regarding Tinubu's completion of graduation requirements and degree certificate. They emphasized that their response to the request for academic records is in line with their established practices, policies, and federal law.

This confirmation follows allegations by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2023 election, questioning the authenticity of documents claiming Tinubu's graduation from Chicago State in 1979.
