The Presidential Election Petition Court has ruled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has the liberty to decide the mode of election results transmission, including electronic transmission.
This decision comes in response to a petition filed by Peter Obi and the Labour Party challenging the victory of Bola Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.
The court clarified that there is no legal requirement for INEC to electronically transmit results and that the electoral body has the authority to determine how it will transmit election results. This ruling affirms INEC's discretion in this matter.
