Dr. Amos Josiah Dangut Appointed Head of Nigeria National Office for WAEC

Dr. Amos Josiah Dangut has been appointed as the new Head of the Nigeria National Office for the West African Examinations Council (WAEC). His appointment comes as the successor to Patrick Ehidiamen Areghan, whose tenure concluded on October 1.

This announcement was made through a statement by Moyosola Adesina, the Acting Head of Public Affairs at WAEC.

Dr. Dangut's journey within WAEC began in 1998 when he joined as an Assistant Registrar II. Over the years, he has diligently climbed the ranks within the organization, achieving the position of Deputy Registrar in April 2018.

Throughout his career at WAEC, Dr. Dangut has held various roles, including serving as an Assistant Registrar/Subject Officer in the Test Development Division in Lagos from July 1998 to January 2005. He later took on the role of Senior Assistant Registrar/Head of Examinations Security and Deputy to the Branch Controller, first in the Uyo Branch Office from January 2005 to January 2008, and then in the Bauchi Branch Office from January 2008 to December 2011. 

He continued his career as Senior Assistant Registrar/Branch Controller at the Yola Branch office from December 2011 to January 2019 and, later, as Deputy Registrar/Controller in the Post Examinations Department from January 2019 to October 2020. His last role was as Deputy Registrar/Zonal Coordinator in the Ikeja Zonal Office.

Dr. Dangut's educational background is rooted in agriculture, with a Bachelor of Agriculture in Animal Production from the University of Agriculture, Makurdi, Benue State, which he earned in 1991. He has consistently demonstrated a commitment to innovation, utilizing Information and Communications Technology to enhance processes in Test Development, Test Administration, and Post Test Activities during his 25-year career at WAEC.

Beyond his administrative roles, Dr. Dangut is an accomplished scholar with multiple publications in both international and national journals. He has also shared his expertise through keynote presentations and papers at various international and national conferences and forums. His appointment is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the role of Head of the Nigeria National Office for WAEC.
